Abstract

The tungsten fiber reinforced titanium composite was produced by the spot welding method. The internal stress alteration of W/Ti composite was measured by the neutron diffractometer, DN1, which had been installed at neutron beamport #6 of Indonesian multipurpose reactor RSG-GAS in Serpong. The residual stress alterations were measured by the in-situ neutron stress measurement technique under the cooling cycles from 300 K to 10 K. Both residual stresses in titanium-matrix and tungsten-fiber were investigated at several temperatures. Furthermore, residual stress alterations were estimated by x-ray stress measurement after cyclic thermal shock testing from 77 K to 373 K generated by liquid nitrogen and boiling water.
