Abstract

Analysis on the design of subcritical assembly with liquid fuel UO{sub 2}SO{sub 4}3H{sub 2}O was performed. The enriched uranium fuel was put in the cylindrical tank. In this study, the effects of two enrichment level, 5% and 19.75%, and two neutron source strengths, 10{sup 8} and 10{sup 9} n/s, on flux distribution and power were analyzed. The neutron source was placed in several location around the core. The effective multiplication factor of the assembly was fixed at 0.985. The results of the calculation showed that the active volume of the core with 5% enriched fuel was 132 liters, with core power level of 0.1547 and 15.47 watts for the source strength of 10{sup 8} and 10{sup 1}0 n/s, respectively. While at the enrichment level of 19.75%, the active core volume obtained was 16.07 liters, which yielded core power of 0.1321 watts for the source strength of 10{sup 8} and 10{sup 1}0 n/s, respectively.
