Abstract

Mg (HCO2) 2.2 (NH2) 2CO,[Mg (CHO2) 2-(CH4N20) 2], Mr= 234.48, monoclinic, C2/c, a= 17.094 (2), b= 16.842 (1), c= 15.198 (2) A,/3= 123.00 (1), V= 3669.6 (6) A 3, z= 16, Dm= 1.69, Dx= 1.686 Mg m-3, A (Cu Ka)= 1.5418/~,/x= 19.26 cm-1, F (000)= 1952, T= 295 K, R= 0.034 for 3351 reflections. The crystal consists of a quasisquare Mg network connected by HCO2, which is similar to the A-site lattice in Mg (HCO2) 2.2 H20. Urea molecules are sandwiched between neighbouring [Mg (HCO2) 2] oo layers.
