Abstract

ABSTRACT
PERFORMANCE OF BATTERY (BTD03) AND INVERTER OF UNINTERRUPTIBLE POWER SUPPLIES 220 V-AC (BTP03) RSG – GA SIWABESSY. Batteries are one source of power supply that is widely used for energy reserves in the event of a failure in the main power supply. Batteries are used as Uninteruptible Power Supply (UPS) in RSG GAS consists of two systems UPS 220 V-AC, namely BTP01 and BTP03. Battery BTD03 has already changed 2 times, the last was changed due to over voltage during charged, i.e 268 Volt, so that the amount of battery which previously 111 pieces add with 9 batteries to 120 pieces of batteries with a total voltage of 240 Volt. Voltage and current measurements carried out at the inverter output (BTP03) and the total output of the battery when the power supply is obtained from the battery. Load voltage at each phase are still qualify, i.e V1 = 221 volt, V2 = 223 Volt, 226 Volt and V3 =226 volt. The difference between V3 with a standard voltage of 220 V is 2.65%, which is still qualify of PUIL 2000 which requires allowable voltage variation + 5% and -10%, while according to ANSI C 84.1 is + 4% and -10%, and the average current I1 = 11.8 A, I2 = 5.82 A, and I3 = 5.81 A. DC battery voltage and current during 7 hours discharge are V = 213 volts and I = 17.3 A, in which the voltage of 213 volts or per cell of 1.775 Volt, under-voltage alarm occurs and this shows UPS system (BTP03) is still functioning and battery BTD03 is protected.
