Abstract
Most of the squids, cuttlefish, and octopi are value able seafood in many parts of the world. Many peoples especially those of Japan, Korea, Mediterranean countries, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan largely consume cephalopods. Nevertheless only the squids are relished to large extent among the cephalopods. Although squid is esteemed as food by many groups of people, however, it is totally rejected by others. Squid meat is clean, attractive, easily digestible, has good flavor, highly nutritive, and rich in protein of high biological value because it contains all essential amino acids. This review gave information on squid as trade commodity, its importance for human health and other uses.
