Abstract

An evaluation was made upon the quality of water from the conduit situated on the west PPBMI BATAN, with a north to south water flow. The evaluation was intended to gain the vital information from the safety point of view upon simulation of the releasae of waste water to the environment by the conduit rute. The result obtained from the evaluation of the potentialy hazardous element showed that there was no observable change of water composition down stream from the site of waste water release compared to that up stream. The concentration of elements of interest ware of << 2; <<2; <<0,4; <<2; <<0,4; ppm for Cr; Cu; Cd; Fe; and Zn; respectively, whilst that obtained from the calculation of alpha and beta activities from October 1982 - Januari 1983, revealed that there was an increase of activities of 0,32 - 0,53 pCi/l for alpha and 0,61 - 1,19 pCi/l for beta. It was concluded by comparing the above mentioned result to maximum permissible values, that the waste water released did not violate the rule.
