A facile hydrothermal technique prepared n-doped carbon dots/titanium dioxide (N-CDs/TiO2) for visible light photocatalysis of dye in wastewater. Several instruments, such as XRD, TEM, BET, UV-VIS, and PL, analyzed the produced. The results confirmed that N-CDs were successfully embedded on the TiO2 surface. The diffractogram N-CDs/TiO2 shows the formation of TiO2 and amorphous carbon. The N-CDs/TiO2 also shows an adsorption peak at 1630 cm− 1, indicating the formation of TiO2. The specific surface area and pore volume of N-CDs/TiO2 nanocomposites were 7.75 m2/g and 0.02 cm3/g. The pore size was 6.74 nm. TEM images indicate that TiO2 has been embedded on the surface of the N-CDs. The PL spectra indicate that the presence of N-CDs significantly increases the absorbance of N-CDs/TiO2 in the visible light range and emits visible light at nearly 500 nm. The optimum percentage of methylene orange (MO) degradation with nanocomposites reached 62.5% within 20 min. N-CDs/TiO2 can be used as a photocatalyst to degrade MO. N-CDs/TiO2 can be used to produce MO-polluted wastewater purification.
