Abstract

This study systematically reviews motorcycle safety research using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) method. PRISMA ensures a transparent and structured approach to identify, screen, and select relevant studies. Data was collected from 553 conspicuity-related and 821 behavior-related papers sourced from Google Scholar, SCOPUS, and Semantic Scholar, with AI-powered tools aiding the search. After screening, 13 conspicuity and 108 behavior studies were included. Findings highlight that improving motorcycle conspicuity enhances safety. Additionally, unsafe driving behaviors—often linked to poor environmental awareness and speed misjudgment—emerge as significant contributors to incidents and accidents. This review underscores the need for targeted interventions to improve motorcycle visibility and promote safer driving behaviors. It also highlights the importance of adopting systematic methods like PRISMA to ensure the reliability and validity of safety research in transportation
