Social assistance is important in alleviating poverty, especially in economically vulnerable rural areas. This research aims to analyze the utilization of social assistance by beneficiary families in Ngargosari Village, Samigaluh District, Kulon Progo Regency. Using a mixed methods approach and a concurrent embedded design, this study involved 40 respondents and 10 informants. Most respondents of this research are married, of productive age, work as housewives, have a high school education, have low income, and support four dependents. The findings showed that social assistance played a crucial role in supporting the economic well-being of families, especially in meeting basic needs such as food and education. The social assistance has contributed to family income ranging from 4% to 58.9%, and to expenditure, from 4.89% to 47.18%. However, 85% of respondents are still below the national poverty line. Although it helps alleviate the economic burden, there is a need to enhance the program's effectiveness through more precise targeting and economic empowerment. The recommendations include integrating social assistance programs with financial literacy and empowerment to enhance beneficiaries' independence
