Abstract

The noise from the blower rotation activity at the Steam Power Plant (PLTU) reaches 115 dB, a level that endangers human hearing. Therefore, the PLTU must provide noise dampening in the engine room. Previous studies have examined the effect of distance andtime on noise due to power plant engine operations, but have not used the Taguchi approach which can analyze the interaction of these factors comprehensively, so this study aims to analyze the effect of distance and time on noise in settlements due to PLTU using the Taguchi method and then continue to analyze using linear regression using Minitabsoftware. Noise data was measured with variations in distance and time of day -night. The results of the analysis showed that at a distance of 400 meters showed an average result of 54.22 dB, Because PLTU activities tend to be stable throughout the day, the difference between day and night has only a small impact on the noise level. where the results are already below the permissible threshold on the noise level in the settlements around the PLTU. The results of this research can be an indicator of the distance between the PLTU and the minimum settlement.
