Abstract

A laser scanning microscope based upon a microcomputer-controlled scanner was designed, constructed and examined. The microcomputer controlled the rotation of two galvanometer mirrors and the mirrors scanned a laser spot
over the target in line and frame mode. The reflected
radiation which represents the reflection image of a single
point in the target was detected by a photodiode detector.
Several experiments were carried out to examine the performance of the microscope including confirmation of the
relationship between length unit of the target and the time
period of the scan, determination of the resolution of the
microscope and spot size of the laser beam and finally an
investigation of the image magnification using electronic
adjustment.
