Abstract
Applications of economic analysis and economic reasoning to the contiguous social science - principally political science - have increased considerably in the past thirty years. The joinder of economics and political science has also undergone a significant transformation. Kenneth Arrow's on social choice, Anthony Down's treatment of economic theory of democracy, Mancur Olson's work on constitutions were all implicated in this transformation. As recent conference volumes in many publications make clear, and the use of economic reasoning to examine politics and political institutions has become wider spread and, for some issues, even essential. However, just as no complex society exists without markets, so no complex society exits without government or bureaucracy either. In this article, economic theory of politics or political economy of bureaucracy and the role of government in economy context is the approach applies the thinking and methods of modern economics to political processes.
