Abstract

The Utilization of Shark. Shark can be utilized for many different purposes. The meat of shark is used as fresh, frozen, smoked and dried salted food for human consumption; it is also used for fish meal. Its fins can be dried and later sold as soup at premium price. The skins from many species can be converted to very high quality leather. The livers of many species can be processed to produce oil and a source of vitamine A. A deep water species of the family Squalidae produces a chemical substance called "squalene" which is largely used in cosmetic industries and pharmacology.
