Abstract

The aim of this research is to increase eugenol content in clove leaf oil
(CLO) from the clove farmer. The increase of eugenol content is carried out by saponification process, and the separation of other component (terpena layer) from eugenol. The process can increase eugenol content from 75% to 96%. Afterwards, eugenol is purified from water and other light component by vacuum distillation. As a result eugenol reached about 98% with amount of 50,25% yields from total amount of initial clove leaf oil.
