Abstract
Lake Rawa Pening regarded as one of the Indonesia’s conservation priority lakes has been experiencing severe environmental deterioration. This condition particularly drives the alteration of aquatic macrophytes biodiversity in the lake. A field survey was conducted on March 2012 as a preliminary survey on the biodiversity research of the lake. As the results, there were 13 identified species categorized within 8 families. The recorded families were Cyperaceae, Onagraceae, Pontederiaceae, Ceratophyllaceae, Scrophulariaceae, Butomaceae, Salviniaceae, and Araceae. In particular, a species of Pontederiaceae (e.g. water hyacinth) was the most dominant species covering the lake’s surface area. Among the listed species, 9 were recognized as natives; meanwhile, 4 others were alien species.
