Abstract
The Solo River, 600 km long and has a catchment area of about 16. 000 km2 is the largest river in Java Island. The main problem of this river is flooding in the rainy season and water shortage in the dry season. One of the efforts to overcome this problem is to build Wonogiri Multipurpose Dam, that was completed in 1981. The dam is utilized for flood control, water supply of irrigation and power generation. Nevertheless, in the big flooding that occurred in Solo City at 26 December 2007, the released water discharge from the reservoir and the reservoir sedimentation were accused as the causation of the flooding. Therefore, it is necessary to clarify the matter proportionally.
