Abstract
This research is aimed to (1) analyzing the glowing cloud danger risk map of Merapi volcano after eruption at 2006 in Disaster Prone Area of zone 111 and 11 in Sleman district; (2) analyzing loss estimation at element at risk of building and the risk population in daytime and nighttime in high risk area in Sleman district. The research method is using interpretation technique of remote sensing in data acquirement through disaster prone area approach. Geographical Information System (GlS) is used as a tool to analyze the data, such as graphical data and also attribute data. The interpretation result and added information that obtained through field check used as data in GIS. The sampling method is area sampling that is base on building variety as an analysis approach. The research conclude that high risk level of glowing cloud danger of Merapi volcano lay in zone 11 of disaster prone area and Hargobinangun village and zone 11 of disaster prone area and Purwobinangun village. It is caused that both place above have very high density of build up area, so that the resident concentration in both place have high level too. The highest loss estimation of glowing cloud danger at Merapi volcano to building and population is zone 11of disaster prone area and Hargobinangun village. It is caused of the existence of Kaliurang recreation area. Totally in both place, loss estimation of glowing cloud danger are number of building 3247, risk population in wok days at daytime 6228, risk population in wok days at nighttime 9595, risk population in holidays at daytime 13.879, and risk population in holidays at nighttime 13.547.
