Abstract
Trass is a natural pozzolanic material, originated from the weathering fine volcanic product,
such as tuff. An early investigation indicates that East Java has abundant of trass deposits which spread troughout the volcanic belt.
This paper reveals several technical parameters, such as chemical composition and physical properties, used to evaluate trass deposit in East Java, The result shows that those trass deposits fulfill the technical requirements for pozzolanic cement raw material.
The types of cernent to be developed are Lime-Pozzolan Cement and Portland-Pozzolan Cement. Lime Pozzolan Cement is intended for irrigation and light construction, while Portland-Pozzolan Cement is developed for sulphate altack resistance in marine construction
