Abstract
The title of this research is Weaving Ulos Silalahi as a Cultural Atribute inSilahisabungan District, Dairi Regency. This study aims to determine how the process of making Ulos Silalahi Woven, and the Utilization of Ulos Silalahi Woven as cultural atributes in traditional ceremonies in Silahisabungan District. This study uses ethnographic research methods. Data collection techniques used are in-depth interviews, participant observation by living with the community/live in, documenta+on and literature study. The results showed that the process of making Ulos Silalahi Woven Fabrics started from the Mangunggas (thread bending process) - Manorha (the process of stringing threads into a humpalan) - Matibobok (the process of forming motifs) Martonun (the process of strangling the threads into sheets of cloth) - Manirat (the process of making fabric). cloth). tassel). Weavers in Silalahi Village use the tradi+onal gedongan loom. The types of Silalahi woven fabrics are: Ulos Gobar, Ulos Polang-polang, Ulos Sidos-dos, Ulos Jung-jung, Ulos Sangkur bonar, Ulos Simangkat-angkat, Ulos Ragi Siantar, Ulos Sitorop Ga+p, Ulos Pangiring, Bintang Maratur, Ulos Suri-suri Sanggar, Ulos Sigara Topi, Ulos Hati Rongga, and Ulos Gipul. Ulos Silalahi woven cloth is still used at traditional events in Silalahi Village I until now. Ulos Silalahi woven cloth is used as a cultural atribute of the Batak community who are descendants of the Silalahi clan in the Silahisabungan sub-district, both for joy and sorrow events. Gobar ulos cloth is known as the most respected ulos or placed as a very high position ulos silalahi because it contains the value of the symbol of the greatness of Ompu Raja Silahisabungan. The descendants of the Ompu Raja Silahisabungan clan are the clans of Sihaloho, Situngkir, Rumah Sondi, Sidabutar, Sidabariba, Sidebang, Pintu Batu and Tambunan.
