Abstract

This study aims to describe how the history of adat Somando in Sibolga City and know more clearly about Coastal culture in Sibolga City, Traditions and stages that are carried out at any event Traditional Sumando wedding, the Coastal community of Sibolga City. This study uses a qualitative research method with an approach descriptive, the benefit of this research is to increase knowledge authors in compiling scientific work, and it is hoped that this research can be the increasing role of the government to continue to support and preserving the customs that exist in Sibolga City, and increasing a sense of love and admire a local culture such as the Sumando custom as an inheritance Culture at wedding events in Sibolga City, as well as for the community Coastal cities are more familiar with and broaden their horizons about Tribal Culture Coastal Nation and still maintain their identity as ethnic people coast. The results of the research show that Sumando adat is here for tribal customs the coast of Sibolga City Tapanuli Tengah is defined as a single unit. Namely the addition or mixing of one family with another family synonymous with Islam, namely Adat encoded in conditions, conditions coded in the Book of Allah, who are bound by marriage, in theory the Sumando Indigenous Coastal culture arises from an acculturation that carries out a sumando customary assimilation on the Coastal Nations tribe based ideas, implementation, and appreciation of Islamic teachings. There are customary Sumando provisions, namely marriage can occurs when the man proposes to the woman first, by submihng delivery money called "jinamu" in the language of the coast "Jinamu" has the same meaning with "Synagogue".
