Abstract

This study aims to describe the quality of teachers at SDN 34 Tanah Sirah, Lubuk Begalung District, and Padang City and the efforts made as well as the inhibiting and supporting factors in an effort to improve teacher quality. This is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach.This research was conducted in two public elementary schools, namely SDN 34 Tanah Sirah and SDN 34 Tanah Sirah. The data collection techniques used were in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique used is an interactive model concept from Milles and Hubberman (data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing). Test the validity of the data using the source and technique of triangulation. (1) The teacher quality of SDN 34 Tanah Sirah, Lubuk Begalung District, was assessed using four competency standards: pedagogic, personality, social, and professional.Pedagogic competency standards have not been met. This can be seen from the fact that teachers have not been able to utilize technology in learning, learning methods still use conventional methods, and the results of the UKG carried out by the Office show that the majority of the scores obtained are also still low. Personal competency standards can be fulfilled. observed in attitude (attitude) and personality (personality).The majority of teachers' social competency standards are good, as evidenced by the interactions between teachers, both internal and external. Teacher professional competency standards have not been met to the fullest. The fact that the majority of teachers work contrary to their educational backgrounds; the RPP only copies and pastes; and (2) efforts are made to improve the quality of elementary school teachers in Kec demonstrate this.Lubuk Begalung includes conducting coaching, organizing various trainings, and implementing KKG; (3) the inhibiting factors in improving teacher quality are minimal sources of funds, a low work ethic, limited infrastructure, and discipline factors. while the supporting factors are adequate human resources, high income, and a comfortable and safe environment.
