Abstract

The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of Islamic Religious Education and the character of the subject matter of Tajwid through the use of Al Kalam Application Media for class X Mipa 4 students of SMA Negeri 3 Pariaman. This research was conducted in the second semester of the 2018–2019 academic year, starting in January 2017, in class X MIPA, 4 SMA Negeri, and 3 Pariaman with 35 students. This study used a direct method with test and observation techniques that consisted of two cycles, with each cycle including: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Learning by utilizing the Al Kalam Application Media can improve student learning outcomes. This can happen because students can look at the Al Kalam application, in which there are recitations of different colors between one recitation and another, while at the same time in each recitation there is already an explanation of how to read it correctly, so that students find it easier to find the reading. Tajwid made it easier to learn the sound of a reading. The results of the research in the first cycle showed that the average percentage value was 79.57 and increased to 90.71 in the second cycle, meaning that there was an increase of 11.14%. Likewise, the learning outcomes showed that the learning completeness value in the first cycle increased from 68.57% to 94.29% in the second cycle. The following are the implications for learning Islamic Religious Education and Character in the classroom based on the study's findings: using the Al Kalam Application Media can improve student learning completion in Islamic Religious Education and Character Education lessons.
