Abstract

This study aims to improve the achievement of class X students in learning dance through the Jigsaw Method at SMA 1 Solok Selatan. This type of research is called classroom action research (PTK). The subjects of this study were 38 students of class X MIPA, 2 SMAN, and 1 Solok Selatan. The research setting took place at SMA 1 Solok Selatan. The procedure of this study consisted of two cycles, each consisting of four meetings with the following steps: (1) planning, (2) implementing action, (3) observation, and (4) reflection. The data collection techniques used were observation, performance tests, documentation, interviews, and questionnaires. While the instruments used were field notes, observation sheets, assessment sheets, interview guides, and questionnaires, The results showed that the positive activity of students in learning for two cycles had increased. This shows that the level of student activity during learning has increased. This is indicated by the enthusiasm of the students, their well-organized group work, their creativity in making dance movements and floor patterns, their ability to combine dance movements into a work, and their confidence when presenting their dance moves and floor patterns. The increase in achievement is supported by quantitative data, which shows that those who get a score of more than 75 or complete before the action are 57.90% as many as 22 students. After the jigsaw method was implemented in the learning of dance for class X MIPA 2 SMAN 2 students, at the end of the first cycle, the percentage of students who completed it became 68.42% as many as 26 students, and the percentage of students who had not completed it became 31.58% as many as 12 students. Furthermore, at the end of the second cycle, the percentage of students who completed it was 89.47%, or 34 students, with 10.53%, or 4 students, failing to complete it.Thus, it can be concluded that the Jigsaw method can improve student achievement in learning dance.
