Beberapa catatan tentang bakteri Salmonella

The Salmonella bacteria belong to the family of Enterobacteriaceae. Generally, they have pathogenic characteristic that cause desease called salmonellosis. The mode of Salmonella infection is not only throuh water but also by eating the infected seafood organisms such as fish, shrimp and shellfish. One of the Salmonella species which is hazardous for human health as well as marine organisms in Salmonella typhi The presence of Salmonella in marine environment is brought by river and estuarine flows which is contaminated by domestic waste. The occurence of Salmonella in the coastal environment, therefore indicates the decrease in its quality and reflecting bad sanitation of urban area. The examination of Salmonella is carried out by isolating and by conducting several bacteriological tests which include various culture methods as well as biochemical and serological test.
