Abstract
There are 23 species of Halimeda found in the Indo-Pacific region, most of them are also founds in the Indonesian waters. For identifying of its species, it is necessary to be familiar with its morphological and anatomical structure. Based on its segmentation, the thallus was differentiated as leaf, basal and holdfast segments. Its internal structure consists of nodal medullary filaments, utricle and surface of utricle. The morphological and anatomical structure of species of the genus Halimeda have standard sizes which are important for the application in the species identification. More detailed method of species identification by applying the characteristics of those two structures was discussed in this paper.
