Abstract
This research originates from the reality at SD N 05 Sawahan, East Padang District, Padang City. Students still have difficulty understanding science concepts because they have not used the right approach so that learning is less enjoyable for students. Appropriate learning approach is the inquiry approach. This approach gives students the opportunity to think, practice solving problems and finding answers on their own. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (CAR). This study uses a qualitative and quantitative approach. This study consisted of four meetings in two cycles. This study uses four stages of action, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were teachers and fourth grade students at SDN 05 Sawahan, East Padang District, Padang City. The data collection technique used was a test of learning outcomes and observation sheets. The results of the first cycle assessment in the RPP assessment got a good percentage of 82.13% (B) while in the second cycle got a very good percentage of 96.40% (SB). The results of the evaluation of the aspects of teacher activity in the first cycle were 83.60% good (B) while in the second cycle the percentage was 97.67% very good (SB). Aspects of student activity in cycle I got a good percentage of 76.77% (B) while in cycle II 90.93% very good (SB). For the results of the learning assessment in the first cycle, it got a good percentage of 68.63% (C) while in the second cycle it got a good percentage of 83.97% (B). Based on these data it was concluded that the Inquiry Approach can improve science learning outcomes for fourth grade students in elementary school.
