Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that at SD Negeri 01 Sawahan, Padang City, teachers dominate the science learning process more than students, so that students are less actively involved in the learning process. As a result, student learning outcomes were poor.The purpose of this study in general is to describe how the design, implementation, and learning outcomes in science education use the Community Technology Science approach in SD IV Sawahan, Padang City. This research is classroom action research using qualitative and quantitative approaches. In its implementation, this study consisted of two cycles. The research procedure consists of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this study were researchers and 10 grade IV students, consisting of 5 male and 5 female students. This research was conducted in the first semester of the 2018–2019 academic year. The research data was obtained through observation and tests. The results of the study show that using the Science Technology Society (STM) approach can improve student learning outcomes in science learning in class IV. This can be seen from: The results of observing the lesson plan in cycle I were 74.95%, increasing in cycle II to 82.10%. This can also be seen from the implementation of learning on the teacher's side in cycle I, which is 73.75%, increasing to 85.00% in cycle II, and from the aspect of students in cycle I obtaining an average value of 71.25%, increasing to 85.00% in cycle II. Student learning outcomes in Cycle I research increased to 73.26%.79.77% in Cycle II.
