Abstract

History is a subject that instills knowledge and values regarding the process of change and development of Indonesian society and the world in the past to the present. However, in history learning in class XI IPS 1 SMA Pertiwi 2 Padang is still low, 58.3% of students score below the KKM. Teachers have not used varied learning models that can attract student interest, teachers have not used learning media that can increase student activity and involvement. So an alternative improvement is needed using the Team Game Tournament model. The purpose of this classroom action research is to improve the learning outcomes of historical social studies through the use of the Team Game Tournament learning model in class XI IPS 1 SMA Pertiwi 2 Padang. This type of research is classroom action research through the Team Games Tournament model which consists of two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The research subjects were students of class XI IPS 1 SMA Pertiwi 2 Padang. Data collection techniques used tests and non-tests. Data analysis in this research is descriptive quantitative and qualitative statistics. The results showed that; (1) the competence of teacher performance in history subjects increased from the first cycle of 52% in the fairly increased category in the second cycle of 66.36% in the good category. (2) the student activity in history subjects increased from the first cycle of 62.74 % in the sufficient category showed an increase in cycle II of 75.36% in the good category. (3) student learning outcomes in history subjects increased from previous conditions with a percentage of learning completeness of 8.83% increasing in cycle I to 62.74% in the sufficient category shows an increase in cycle II of 75.36% in the good category.
