Abstract

This study entitles “The Influence Of Self-Directed Dialogue Toward Students’ Speaking Ability. It employed quantitative data approach by using experimental design. There were two classes taken as sample consisting of 47 students. In this case, the researchers used random sampling method. In experimental group, the researchers used self directed dialogue toward students speaking English. After teaching learning process for three meetings in each group, the researchers gave post-test to students at the end of the meeting. The result of this research revealed that the students’ achievement in control group was lower than experimental group. This was proved by the result of t-score 9,78 and (8,10) was higher than t-table on significance 0,05 (ttable = 1,684). Based on the research result, the researchers concluded the influence of self-directed dialogue toward students’ speaking ability at the first grade students of MTsN Lhokseumawe was effective
