Abstract
This study aims to describe the increase in student interest and learning outcomes in the use of picture series as learning media. This School Action Research was carried out in 3 cycles. For 4 months in semester 1. The research subjects are students of SMP Negeri 4 Jambi City in the 2018/2019 academic year the instruments used are in the form of tests and non-tests. Data collection techniques through 1). Documentation of the results of observation sheets by the teacher as a researcher, 2) tests in the form of assessment and observation sheets, and 3) questionnaires, to determine student responses to the use of picture series as learning media.The analysis step is through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that the use of picture series as a learning medium was able to improve student learning outcomes in Indonesian language learning materials for persuasive speech at SMP Negeri 4 Jambi City. This is indicated by before the study, showing the percentage of student learning outcomes who increased their skills in writing persuasive speeches as many as 30 students with a percentage of 86% not having the ability, decreased to 4 students with a percentage of 11%. Activities to improve student learning outcomes in the use of serial picture media, in learning after the third cycle of research actions carried out during the learning process at SMP Negeri 4 Jambi City.
