Abstract

From the results of initial observations, it is known that the learning process in SMP Negeri 31 Padang is carried out with teaching and learning activities that are less active student. Various problems faced by students at this school, especially in class VIII with problems including low learning achievement, which resulted in a lack of enthusiasm (motivation) to compete with each other in obtaining grades. This is because in learning students only listen without listening there are variations in learning such as the use of media and so on. So it is strived to increase motivation and student learning outcomes by using media, namely computer media in the form of power point. The study was conducted using learning media in the form of a power point presentation program in class VII SMP Negeri 31 Padang. The research was carried out in three cycle, each cycle consists of four stages, namely: 1) Planning: making learning scenarios using power point media, 2) Action: carrying out learning scenarios as planned, 3) Observing: observing the implementation of actions using observation sheets and evaluation tools , and 4) Reflection: analyzing data from observations and evaluations, the results of reflection are used to improve learning in the next cycle. The results showed that students' motivation and learning mastery increased compared to the initial study with passive students and less varied teacher learning in delivering material, in cycle I, cycle II, and cycle III an increase was observed with learning observation sheets. The number of motivated students increased from the initial observation by 56.25% to 71.87% in the first cycle, 81.2% in the second cycle and 87.5% in the cycle III. Mastery of student learning also increased from the initial observation of 15.6% to 28.1% in the first cycle, 46.8% in the second cycle and 87.5% in the third cycle. From the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the application of learning using computer media in the form of power point can improve the motivation and learning outcomes of class II students of SMP Negeri 31 Padang for the 2018/2019 academic year. From this conclusion, it is recommended to use power point learning media in classes that have characteristics such as in the class that is the subject of research and the use of power point media should also be studied in other subjects.
