Abstract
Activities and learning outcomes of students are still relatively low. Therefore, in the learning process, it is necessary to apply a learning model that is able to encourage students to be active and can improve the quality of learning in students. One of the learning models that involve the participation of students is cooperative learning. Various types or techniques in cooperative learning include the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) type. This type provides opportunities for students to study in teams or groups and measure their own abilities individually after studying as a team. The purpose of this study was to determine the activities and learning outcomes of students in learning through the application of the STAD type cooperative learning model.This research is a classroom action research (CAR) which consists of several cycles, each cycle consisting of three components, namely: planning, action and observation, and reflection. The instruments used in this study were student learning activity observation sheets and student learning outcomes test sheets.The results showed that there was an increase in activities and learning outcomes of mathematics through the Student Team Achievement Division (STAD) type cooperative learning model from cycle I to cycle II. The increase in activity classically was 71.32% in cycle I and 79.34% in cycle 2. The activity of paying attention and listening to presentations in the high category, asking the teacher or friends related to what was being studied in the high category, expressing or refuting opinions in the high category medium, write down the answers of the LKPD in the high category, and work together in groups in the high category. While the completeness of student learning outcomes in the first cycle was 53% with an average score of 68.6 and the second cycle was 73.3% with an average value of 81.4
