Abstract

Each Dayak communities who inhabit in the interior of Kalimantan perceive to have been created as a community exclusively. However, there are some communities who claimed that the people of one’s community is the descendant or part of another community, such as the Bawo and Benuaq who argued to be the descendant of the Lawangan people living in Tiwei. This article discusses the possibility of a genealogical relationship between the community of Bawo, Benuaq, and Lawangan. The study was conducted based on a descriptive-comparative approach in regard to the concept of religion in the form of burial artefacts and language. Based on the discussion, I expected to obtain comprehension on the genealogical relationships between communities in the interior of Kalimantan. The results of this comparison showed that all three communities have a genealogical relationship.
