Pengukuran radioaktivitas Ce-137 dalam cuplikan rumput

The solven extraction method for the quantitative determination of caesium - 137 in grass sample is discribed. Caesium carrier was added to the ashed sample, which was disolved by hydrocloric acid. The solution was fild red to removed any carbon and the pH was adjusted to 2.0. Sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonat was added and the extraction was done using phenol-nitrobenzene mixture. The organic phase was washed into EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid) sokution and the caesium was striped from the washed solvent with 6 M hydrolcloric acid. The caesium was precipitated as caesium chlorostante to ensure absolute decontamination from K-40, and the radioactivity was counted in a low background beta counter. Data from measurement is 1,2-6,8 pci/gram ash.
