Abstract

Pulsed nitrogen laser made by PPBMI with the rate of 275 pulse/minute, relative pulse height of 0,0275 V and the power of +- 100 KW per pulse has been utilized for investigating the handling of the obstinate Ru-NO complex in the contamination process of fissile material against Ru. Laser irradiation for 40 minutes destroyed nitric acid, therefore the irradiation was exposed to the organic phase, i.e. 30 % TBP-koresene. The distribution coffisients of Ru into the organic phase were measured from the aqueous phase of nitric acid with the concentration of 0,10 M - 6,50 M. The degradation of Ru-NO complexes and nitric acid as well as the resistance of TBP-koresene against laser irradiations where analized using an IR spectrophotometer, while the distributions coefficients of Ru were measured using an UV-VIS spectrophotometer. Since the nitrato ligands were destroyed by laser the Ru-NO complexes consisted nitro without nitrato ligands (their distribution coefficients are very low and stable compound), therefore the laser irradiation being exposed to the organic phase containing the Ru-NO complexes would simplify the decontamination of fissile materials agaits Ru in the first cycle of PUREX.
