Memahami beberapa aspek sosial ekonomi hutan Mangrove di delta Cimanuk

TOWARD THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE SOME SOCIO ECONOMICAL ASPECTS OF THE MANGROVE FOREST OF THE CIMANUK DELTA COMPLEX. The mangrove forest ecosystem of the Cimanuk delta complex are fragile and particularly susceptible to degradation through improper use. They occupied a large area of about 1,500 hectare and represent a young forest type. The mangrove forest have been used by the local people of Indramayu as good fishing grounds and as source of firewood, dyes, edible plants, traditional handicraft, fish pond, etc. Although the local government acknowledges the importance of mangrove resources in the Cimanuk delta and their development plans, but the main local government's objective have made it difficult to conserve mangrove resources. The rapid growth of human population make it incumbent upon us that these resources be utilized to maximum for the benefit of man, but they must not be destroyed or depleted through unwise and uncontrolled use of the environment. It is suggested also that new land of the delta complex should be considered as a part of the forest areas development, and not to be used for other purposes.
