Abstract

ZOOPLANKTON OF SOME MANGROVE AREAS IN INDONESIA. Mangrove ecosystem contributes high organic matter and nutrients to the surrounding environment and plays an important role for the life of aquatic animal in the tropical area. In this environment, zooplankton has significant role in food chain and act link between primary producer i.l phytoplankton and nekton. Diversity and abundance of zoo-plankton are dependent upon several environmental factors such as turbidity, current and certain physical and chemical characteristics. Common zooplankton groups which are found in Indonesian mangrove area consist of copepods, cladocerans, rotifers, mysids and euphausids.
