ULTRA VIOLET AND VISIBLE SPECTROPHOTOMETER AND ITS APPLICATION IN OCEANOLOGY. Ultra violet and visible spectrophotometer is one of the practical instrument which is able to detect the biological and chemical characteristics of sea water. The principle mechanism of this instrument is based on the light absorption by a solution at certain wave length. This paper describes the instrument and gives notes on the application in the field of oceanology, such as primary productivity, nutrients, suspended solid and sediment load.
