Abstract

This paper describes resistance tests of Surface Effect Planning Hull (SEP-Hull) Craft model. This model was fitted with air lubrication system located on longitudinal flat bottom (planning hull craft) to determine the influences of air lubrication on ship resistance performances. The test model was built by fiberglass and the hydrodynamic tests were performed with speed of Froude number 0.1-1.45 in towing tank- UPT Balai Pengkajian dan Penelitian Hidrodinamika BPPT, Surabaya. The resistance (drag) of the model was measured by load cell transducer. The model test results were presented by graphics and tables. From the results show that total resistance reduces up to 30 percent by using air lubrication method under the surface of the hull’s model. The results offer a considerable promise in ship hydrodynamics.

ABSTRAK. Makalah ini membahas pengujian hambatan model kapal Surface Effect Planning Hull (SEP-Hull). Model uji menggunakan sistem pelumasan udara di bawah permukaan lambung kapal untuk mengetahui pengaruh sistem pelumasan terhadap gaya hambatan kapal. Model ini terbuat dari bahan fiberglass dan diuji pada kecepatan, Fn 0.1-1.45, di towing tank- UPT Balai Pengkajian dan Penelitian Hidrodinamika BPPT, Surabaya. Gaya hambatan model kapal diukur dengan alat ukur ‘load cell transducer’. Hasil pengujian model dipresentasikan dalam bentuk grafik dan tabel. Dari hasil uji diperoleh bahwa hambatan total kapal berkurang hingga 30 persen dengan mengaplikasikan sistim pelumasan udara di bawah permukaan lambung kapal. Hasil ini memberikan harapan yang menjanjikan dalam dunia perkapalan.
