Abstract

One of the important factors in the design of modern aircraft wings is the aeroelastic stability. With the potentiality of utilizing material couplings in the process of structural tailoring, new research directions have emerged. In this regard, composite materials play a vital role in aircraft wings. This study aims to critically review the recent research and development related to composite wings aeroelastic analysis and design. Different aerodynamics, aeroelastic, and design methodologies have been investigated and reviewed. Moreover, several optimization techniques, probabilistic analyses, and reliability-based aeroelastic analyses for improving the aeroelastic performance of composite wings, have been reviewed. At the end, the paper presents the challenges associated with the development of aeroelastic analysis and design of composite wings and introduces a concise oversight of future research. The research aims to supply guidance on the prospective designs of composite wings for better aeroelastic performance. The outcomes exhibit discernment information for professionals, engineers, and scientists practicing continuous improvement in composite wings aeroelasticity.
