High-resolution neutron powder diffraction study of Dy 2 Fe 9 Al 8 has been carried out at 65 K. The crystallographic parameters and magnetic moments were determined by Rietveld profile fitting calculation. The results showed that Dy 2 Fe 9 Al 8 crystallized in the rhombohedral Th 2 Zn 17 type structure. The aluminum atoms were distributed randomly at positions 18f, 18h and 6c. The magnetic moments of all iron atoms were parallel to the six-fold axis and couple antiferromagnetically to the moment of Dy.
