Abstract

This thesis deals with map projection selection of small scale maps using the Generalized Formulae for Conformal Projections and the isocol method. This is accomphshed by selecting a numerical coefficient of the formulae whose isocol fits most of the mapped area and whose vatu~ 1s the least of all other numerical coeffici~nts. The isocol is obtained from the application of the general scale length formula. The implementation of the selection is carried out by the application of a compu~er program called the Generalized Conformal Projection Program which has been specially written for this purpose.
