Abstract
This thesis explores the development of a structured material coding system to enhance material quantity control during the design process in shipbuilding. It identifies the limitations of existing systems and proposes a more integrated and systematic approach to categorizing and tracking materials. The new coding system aims to improve data accuracy, facilitate communication between departments, and support better decision-making in the design and production stages. The study includes a case application to demonstrate its practical implementation and benefits.
