Abstract

ABSTRACT

TREATMENT OF LIQUID URANIUM WASTE WITH ANION EXCHANGE RESIN AMBERLITE OF IRA – 400 Cl AND IMMOBILIZATION RESIN SATURATED URANIUM USING POLYMER. Waste uranium of rafinat from uranium extractionproces of Mo-99 radioisotope production contain many radionuclides fission product and uranium low concentration. Waste volume reduction is done with maximum absorption process of uranium that forms
[UO2(SO4)3]-4 with anion exchange resin Amberlite of IRA 400 Cl in continuous column.The optimum condition was
achieved 45 haur operation until resin become saturated. Analysis of uranium was measured by UV – Vis Spectrometer. According to the standart of IAEA that immobilization of the saturated resin usepolimer. The immobilization process was carried out by mix the saturated resin and polyester polymer with variety of waste loading 10, 20, 30, 40 dan 50 % in seriform. Resistance charackteristic of polimer conducted with test of density, and also test of compressive strength
and leaching rate measured using a hydraulic press and soxhlet.The optimum condition for the immobilization were
obtained on waste loading 20 weight %, with density is 1,1490 g/cm3, compressive strength is 4,342kN/cm2 and leaching rate is 0,0011 gram/cm2.day
