Abstract

In general, the fatigue of aircraft structure was occurred on area which undergone the high stress concentration for exemple on joint hole, however the joint existence is difficult to avoid. Therefore, field of rivet hole is a critical area with respect to an initial crack propagation. One of technique to reduce the stress concentration around of hole is. making larger of cross section area around of hole by application of pad-up.
This paper discusses the fatigue test method and analysis results from one of siffener of aircraft wing structure that owning a rivet hole with pad-up and without pad-up. Test results show that the structure which has a hole with pad-up had. a fetigue life 80 % higher so application pad-up on structure which having a hole damage and undergone the large dynamic loading is need to consider.
