Abstract
Some of forgotten problems in developing essential oil industry in Indonesia are essential oil vegetation conservation as well as prosperity of the community around the area where vegetations planned. Up to now, instead of being the subject of essential oil industry development that deserves attention, the community tums out to be the object of the industry development. The community only ears a little profit from the industry around them. Modest profit the community earing from the industry around them resuits in economic injustice, social resentment, and recklessness to biological life of essential oil vegetation, that leads to inferior quality oil. Development strategy of essential oil industry in Indonesia should involve in the community owning the essential oil industry which in the last 3 years has been taking place technology transfer and production carried out by the community.
