Abstract

The Wing-in-Ground Effect craft (WIGE), a vehicle flying in the ground effect, is a promising transportation means in the near future. At the starting process of design numerical estimation became an important step beside model examination to get total resistance of WiGE craft. Identically in hull characteristic with planning craft, the Daniel Savitsky method compatible to estimate total resistance of the craft at planing conditions. The dynamie conditions of WiGE craft during increase of speed become a problem to find input data for the method, input of wetted surface area (wetted length), beam waterline and trim have became change following the current speed of craft. This paper describes the result of study conceming with the drag prediction for WiGE craft toward its speeds, and the correlation between wetted length of the craft and speed. Visual observations of the model in towing tank have heen done to find the function between speed and wetted length of the craft.
Dynamical input corresponds in numerical analize result which shown similar trend of graphic toward the result of physical model examination in towing tank.
