Metode budidaya Rotifer laut, Brachionus plicatilis

The culture method of marine rotifer, Brachionus plicatilis. For more than 100 years before 1964, rotifer were considered as noxious animals in Japan since they Consumed a lot of oxygen. A large number of rotifers consume large amount of phytoplankton, which are very important for maintaining a homeostatic ecosystem in the pond. Dr. TOKASHI ITO, rotifer ecologist in eel culture, later found that rotifers were the best food for the larvae of fish and crustaceans. In this paper, the technical development of the mass culture of rotifers in Japan was briefly reviewed.
