Abstract
The alumina based material had been used as electrolyte in ionic cell system with Sodium (Na) as the anode and Sulfur (S) as the cathode. The tube of solid state electrolyte has been synthesized and characterized by x-ray diffraction, temperature dependent and frequency dependent ionic conductivity have been measured by two probe methods and LCR-meter, and has been made ionic cell model with tube electrolyte. Crystal system is hexagonal that identified by using x-ray diffraction and the lattice parameter crystal are a = 5.636 A and c = 34.526 A, ionic conductivity is 10{sup -3} ohm{sup -1} cm{sup -1} at room temperature and 10{sup -2} ohm{sup -1} cm{sup -1} at temperature 300{sup o}C. The charge-discharge characteristics measurements and the system polarization at room temperature. It can be deduced that the cell configuration cell ionic Na/{beta}{sup A}l{sub 2}O{sub 3}/S has performed as a cell system. The cell performed well with OCV up to 1,5 Volt, and current about 12 mA. The tube of solid state electrolyte has dimension of 30 mm outer diameter, 20 mm inner diameter, and 35 mm height.
