The effects of dilution on the competing exchange state in (Tb, Y)Mn2X2 (X = Ge, Si)

Abstract

Neutron-diffraction and magnetometric measurements have been performed on Tb1−x YxMn2Ge2 (x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3) and Tb0.9Y0.1Mn2Si2. Replacement of the Tb atoms by Y decreases the ordering temperatures of Tb moments and gives an intermediate phase in (Tb, Y)Mn2X2 (X = Ge, Si) solid solutions.
